IT Services are seeking a Technical Solutions Architect to help shape our technology landscape. This is an 18-month appointment specifically to support the design and development of the RMS GEN2 project (aka Records Management System 2nd Generation aka Athena replacement). We are seeking a skilled and passionate individual to work with the RMS Gen2 team on developing the business case for a robust, scalable and secure technical solution, working closely with IT Services, Commercial Service and the RMS Gen2 team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design architecture for the new system, aligning with business goals, industry practices and policing security protocols.
  • Collaborate with development teams, suppliers, product owners and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology and trends, and provide technical guidance, designs and solution mentorship to IT team members, fostering a knowledge sharing culture and continuous learning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven experience in technical architecture with a strong understanding of various technologies and platforms, including contribution/production of High and Low level system designs.
  • Knowledge and application of baseline security principles, functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Educated to degree level, together with an appropriate IT professional qualification and possessing an extensive knowledge of policing and business operating environments.

Additional requirements include project management principles: experience of solution delivery from design, procurement, delivery and post support. A passion for technology with broad business knowledge and understanding of current and emerging information and communication technologies and products, services, methods and techniques for solutions delivery. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The post holder will be part of the IT Departmental Management Team and must be able to represent the department on the out-of-hours on-call rota for critical incidents and stakeholder management. The salary band includes incremental increases, with a maximum of £59,634.00.
