Disability Peterborough is seeking a Trustee and Treasurer to join the Board. This role involves governance and strategic oversight to help deliver vital services for physically disabled people in Peterborough. Remote candidates are welcome. The estimated time commitment is approximately 4 hours per month, including attending Board meetings, reviewing documents, and occasional follow-up tasks.ResponsibilitiesServe as Director of the Company and Trustee of the Charity, contributing to financial governance and strategic decision-making.Help manage finances responsibly and sustainably to continue delivering essential services.Assist with governance, planning, and safeguarding resources to support the organization’s mission.Provide input in relation to financial oversight, including governance-level advice and oversight rather than day-to-day administration.Engage with the local accountancy firm and review monthly management reports and the annual return as needed.What we’re looking forCommitment to the charity’s mission and valuesAbility to analyse financial reports, budgets, service proposals, and contracts, and assess their financial impactStrong teamwork and understanding of collective decision-makingExcellent organizational skills; able to work remotely and use own initiativeSound, independent judgment and creativity, with willingness to make tough or unpopular recommendationsUnderstanding or willingness to learn legal duties of treasurer and trustee rolesPrevious finance experience or good understanding of financial management, preferably in the charitable sectorWillingness to provide occasional advice and support to staff and volunteers via email, Zoom, or phoneNo Prior Experience Required We welcome all applicants. Your expertise will help us make informed decisions and safeguard resources that support our work.We have a contract with a local accountancy firm that uses Xero to prepare monthly management reports and the annual return. The Treasurer’s input is primarily at governance and advisory level rather than day-to-day financial administration.The estimated time commitment is approximately 4 hours per month.
