About The Role
We are seeking a talented UX Designer to join a dynamic and highly skilled software engineering team based in High Wycombe. This hybrid role offers the flexibility of working three days in the office and two days remotely, with flexible start and finish times to accommodate your personal schedule.The successful candidate will play a vital role in designing and enhancing user experiences for world-leading scientific software used by the global scientific community. This position is ideal for someone with a scientific or engineering background who possesses a passion for user-centered design and is eager to work on complex technical products.
Qualifications
- A relevant Science or Engineering qualification. If not directly in software engineering, formal software training or certification is required.
- At least 2 years of proven experience in user-centered design, prototyping, and UI/UX development.
- Proficiency in design and interaction software such as Figma or Adobe XD.
- Experience working within an Agile environment, collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of UX and UI design principles, with the ability to translate user requirements into intuitive interfaces.
- Experience working on complex technical products, preferably in desktop development or instrument control environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work across multiple projects simultaneously and manage stakeholder expectations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development and refinement of user experience designs under supervision, ensuring alignment with project goals and standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define and deliver functionality for upcoming software releases.
- Maintain and promote good design principles, ensuring consistency with branding guidelines and UI/UX best practices.
- Stay informed on the latest UI/UX trends and incorporate innovative ideas to keep the software at the forefront of industry standards.
- Gather requirements from product owners and developers, translating technical and user needs into effective design solutions.
- Participate in iterative design processes, including prototyping, user testing, and feedback incorporation.
- Support the team in creating accessible, user-friendly interfaces that enhance overall user satisfaction.
