Santander Corporate & Investment Banking (SCIB) is Santander's global division that supports some of the world's most complex and sophisticated corporate and institutional clients, offering customised services and value-added wholesale products to best meet their needs.
In this interesting role within the SCIB UK Strategy and Governance team, you'll be working in close coordination with the Santander London Branch (SLB) Executive Committee and SLB Senior Management to implement the Global SCIB divisional goals and objectives.
You'll play a key role in driving the strategic priorities and influencing management decision making. You'll work closely with wider team to identify opportunities and challenges for the division and ensure effective control and governance structures are maintained to optimise management time, effort and effective decision making.
In this high profile role, you'll report into the Head of Strategy & Governance and act as a key support to the Head of SCIB UK (Head of SLB) and the SLB Chief Administrative Officer in the day-to-day management of SLB.
The difference you'll make:
- Acting as a trusted advisor to the Head of Strategy & Governance and the wider team on critical strategic questions facing the business
- Supporting SCIB's strategic planning processes, including developing strategic and budgeting plans for the UK SCIB platform in partnership with CEO, finance, product teams and others
- Assisting with the design and implementation of strategic transformation programmes to ensure that UK or branch specific aspects are addressed
- Leading regular and ad-hoc strategy reviews on key business issues and testing growth and efficiency hypotheses
- Managing the evolution of SCIB UK's Booking Model architecture in line with the growth of the business whilst ensuring that it remains aligned to relevant regulatory expectations
- Acting as the key nodal point for SLB's engagement with the UK regulatory bodies and providing close support to the Head of SCIB UK by managing presentations, Board and Exco papers, and Client and employee interactions
What you'll bring:
These are the essential requirements you need to be successful in this role:
- Extensive experience in a similar position in Management Consulting or Financial Services environment
- In depth understanding of structuring and execution of strategic transformation programmes
- Relevant experience of working on regulatory and governance related matters
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery and execution of projects
It would also be nice for you to have:
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, working in close collaboration with the support and business units
- Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject (Banking, Finance, Business, Management)
- Any additional languages especially Spanish
- MBA or Masters in Finance or equivalent
What else you need to know:
This role is based at our offices in Triton Square, London located within easy walking distance from Warren Street and Euston.

To support this, we offer site-based contracts with a hybrid working pattern and our expected level of attendance in an office is at least 3 days a week (pro-rata for part-time roles).

As well as a competitive salary, you'll enjoy a benefits package that you can tailor to your needs.
- Eligible for a discretionary performance-related annual bonus.
- We put 8% of salary into your pension, even if you don't contribute yourself. We'll pay in up to 12.5% of salary, if you contribute as well, and you can take some of our contribution in cash if you prefer.
- 30 days' holiday plus bank holidays, which increases to 31 days after 5yrs service, with the option to purchase up to 5 contractual days per year.
