New Today

Overview

VP of Engineering role based in the UK / Remote with London hub. Reports to the CPO and is part of the executive team. Start Date: ASAP.

Qflow is a climate-tech construction-tech company on a mission to provide data that empowers the world to build responsibly. From our London HQ, we’re building a platform that delivers real-time insights on materials, waste, cost, carbon, and quality from the source. We back ambitious growth with Series A funding and a team focused on reducing waste and carbon through data-driven construction insights.

We are seeking a visionary VP of Engineering to shape our technical future, lead engineering, and help redefine what’s possible in construction technology.

The Opportunity

Lead the technology function as we scale, owning technology strategy, team, and delivery with a strong product orientation and pragmatic use of AI. Own the technical delivery of the product roadmap, ensure engineering excellence and a healthy culture, and drive technology enablement and security for the business. You will engage with product, commercial, finance, and operations and act as the most senior engineering executive on the executive team.

What you’ll be doing

As Qflow’s VP of Engineering, you’ll shape and scale technology and the team. You will be a core member of the Senior Leadership Team, focusing on three areas:

  • Set and lead the Engineering Strategy
    • Align the engineering strategy and roadmap to the product roadmap and company mission.
    • Partner with Product: own the how for technical delivery while Product owns the what and why, ensuring roadmaps align with customer and business value.
    • Identify and manage technology risks and opportunities, with mitigation plans to protect value for customers.
    • Represent technology leadership with SLT, Board, investors, and clients as needed.
    • Ensure good engineering and data governance, supporting third-party certifications with Operations.
  • Inspire a high performing team and provide technical leadership
    • Lead and grow engineers and managers across Platform, Data, and Quality; foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
    • Maintain information flow, cooperation, and trust across teams; support learning.
    • Attract, hire, and develop top talent, balancing innovation with high standards of accountability and quality.
    • Create space for innovation while maintaining accountability and quality.
  • Drive engineering excellence and scalable delivery
    • Own the engineering budget, delivery processes, quality, and performance.
    • Take end-to-end accountability for technical strategy, architecture, and execution; stay close enough to the codebase to review designs and unblock engineers when needed.
    • Evolve the platform to support multi-product, multi-market scale while staying lean and pragmatic.
    • Apply AI tools to deliver measurable business value, not novelty.
    • Champion data quality and security with a value-focused approach.

Projects you’ll drive

  • International expansion – localisation for mobile app and web platform across North America and Europe, including language handling via LLMs and quality control processes.
  • Design verification – extract more intelligence from design docs and site data to prevent materials-related mistakes.
  • New data insights – unlock value from data across construction sites, e.g., predicting programme delays.

What we’re looking for

  • Demonstrated leadership in maintaining high-trust engineering teams and tech culture.
  • Experience scaling a B2B SaaS or applied AI product from Series A to C (or equivalent growth stage).
  • Experience in engineering leadership within a fast-growing start-up or scale-up; comfortable with volatility and ambiguity of growth stages; able to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Strong track record shipping real-world AI/ML systems with complex data pipelines and architectures; familiarity with Python, C#, Typescript or related languages.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; effective with cross-functional teams and a team player.
  • Experience in hiring exceptional team members.
  • Customer-centric focus on development and a commercial approach to technology strategies.
  • Focus on how tech is applied (data, UI, workflows, integrations) rather than purely algorithmic novelty.
  • Experience with SaaS, quality and security; knowledge of legal and compliance aspects (IP, data transfers, etc.).
