Overview
The Role: As a key member of the Private Client department you will manage a varied caseload covering all aspects of wills probate estate administration and related advisory work. You’ll be joining a practice where compassion and professionalism go hand in hand, ideal for a solicitor who wants to make a meaningful difference while enjoying a supportive and down-to-earth team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a mixed caseload including:
- Drafting wills and codicils
- Estate and probate administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney
- Trust creation and administration
- Inheritance Tax planning and general private client advisory work
- Provide clear empathetic guidance to clients often at sensitive times
- Conduct meetings with clients, executors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders
- Prepare and review legal documentation with a strong attention to detail
- Ensure compliance with SRA AML and all relevant regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using case management software
- Work closely with colleagues to meet deadlines and contribute to departmental goals
- Support junior members of the team (if required)
Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience in Private Client law
- Minimum 2-3 years PQE in wills probate and estate administration
- Strong technical knowledge of UK private client law and relevant procedures
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate client-focused approach
- Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office
- A genuine desire to offer high-quality personable client service
Desirable
- STEP qualification or working towards it
- Experience with complex estates or tax planning matters
- Knowledge of trusts and Court of Protection applications
