Overview

The Role: As a key member of the Private Client department you will manage a varied caseload covering all aspects of wills probate estate administration and related advisory work. You’ll be joining a practice where compassion and professionalism go hand in hand, ideal for a solicitor who wants to make a meaningful difference while enjoying a supportive and down-to-earth team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a mixed caseload including:
  • Drafting wills and codicils
  • Estate and probate administration
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Trust creation and administration
  • Inheritance Tax planning and general private client advisory work
  • Provide clear empathetic guidance to clients often at sensitive times
  • Conduct meetings with clients, executors, beneficiaries and other stakeholders
  • Prepare and review legal documentation with a strong attention to detail
  • Ensure compliance with SRA AML and all relevant regulatory requirements
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records using case management software
  • Work closely with colleagues to meet deadlines and contribute to departmental goals
  • Support junior members of the team (if required)

Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive with experience in Private Client law
  • Minimum 2-3 years PQE in wills probate and estate administration
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK private client law and relevant procedures
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate client-focused approach
  • Ability to manage a busy caseload independently and efficiently
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office
  • A genuine desire to offer high-quality personable client service

Desirable

  • STEP qualification or working towards it
  • Experience with complex estates or tax planning matters
  • Knowledge of trusts and Court of Protection applications
