About the role

We are seeking a compelling factual storyteller with a proven track record of creating engaging, long‑form documentary‑style YouTube videos for a modern digital audience.

You will be responsible for writing engaging, informative and accurate scripts for long‑form videos, overseeing production, and managing a small production team.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate and develop ideas for new videos with compelling hooks, strong storylines, and intellectual depth.
• Write, revise, and edit scripts, ensuring accuracy and engaging storytelling, with deep research to trace stories back to original sources.
• Oversee all elements of production, including planning filming, directing on location, overseeing edits, animations, and delivering on time and on budget.
• Manage and line‑produce a researcher, and work closely with animators and editors to deliver high‑quality videos.
• Ensure all content is optimised for YouTube and other social media platforms.

Requirements

• Experience writing and producing high‑performing factual YouTube videos and long‑form documentaries for a digital audience.
• Expert storyteller with a portfolio showcasing writing and video‑making ability, capable of communicating complex ideas in a clear and engaging way.
• Proven experience running edits for long‑form factual content.
• Experience managing a production team, including researchers, editors, and animators.
• Strong project management skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong bachelor’s degree or equivalent; subjects of interest include Economics, History, Geography, Philosophy, and science subjects.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality content that meets the standards of the YouTube channel.
