Role and opportunities

Are you looking for a varied intelligence role that will help make a difference to the health and wellbeing of people in our communities?

We have an opportunity for a dynamic Health Intelligence Analyst to join our Public Health Intelligence Team within NHS Lothian’s Department of Public Health and Health Policy.

To compliment the team’s current skill mix, we are particularly looking for individuals with expertise in qualitative or ‘mixed’ methods, and those with knowledge or experience in formal approaches to evaluation in a public health context.

About the role

Public Health Intelligence Analysts are key members of our Public Health Intelligence Team. You will work closely with colleagues and partners across the three domains of public health to produce high quality public health intelligence. This intelligence helps paint a picture of our communities and is central to informing planning, policy and services as NHS Lothian and its partners work to improve people’s lives by reducing health inequalities and improving health.

This is a permanent full time Agenda for Change Band 6 position. The main departmental office is currently at Mainpoint, 102 Westport in central Edinburgh, with other offices at the Astley Ainslie Hospital site; hybrid working is the norm at present.

We are looking for people who are confident prioritising and leading programmes of work, taking responsibility for the planning, analysis, interpretation and communication of evidence-informed public health intelligence.

Qualifications

• A degree plus additional specialist knowledge to SCQF Level 10 in relevant fields such as epidemiology, research methods, information analysis, statistics and/or qualitative methodology.
