Aberdeen comprises three businesses — interactive investor (ii), Investments, and Adviser — each of which focuses on meeting and adapting to our clients’ evolving needs.Interactive investor, the UK’s second largest direct-to-consumer investment platform, enables individuals in the UK to plan, save, and invest in the way that works for themOur Adviser business provides financial planning solutions and technology for UK financial advisers, enabling them to create value for their customersOur Investments business is a specialist asset manager that focuses on areas where we have both strength and scale to capitalise on the key themes shaping the market, through either public markets or alternative asset classesAbout The RoleThe Enterprise Automation team is responsible for identifying, developing and implementing automation use cases within the Digital Workplace team and beyond, as well as enabling and encouraging automation within surrounding teams. There is an initial focus on implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for cloud hosted applications, building capacity/cost reduction within Enterprise Services and improving the end user experience through automation. This is an exciting team to be a part of, the opportunities for driving efficiency and improving our service through automation are endless and will expose all team members to a wide variety of problems and technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesManage and participate in the design, build, delivery and maintenance of solutions. This includes automation strategies such as IaC, configuration-as-code, policy-as-code, release orchestration and CI/CD pipelines, and collaborative ways of working (DevOps). Participate in change and release management processesPrototype new tools and technologies to enhance automation platform capabilities. Proactively identify innovative ways to reduce toil, and teach, coach or mentor others to improve organisational outcomes using automationImprove reliability, scalability and efficiency by working with other engineering teams to ensure well-architected and thoughtfully operationalized automated infrastructures. This includes assisting with nonfunctional requirements, such as data protection, high availability, disaster recovery, monitoring requirements and efficiency considerations in different environmentsWork closely with security specialists to design, implement and test security controls, and ensure automation activities align with security configuration guidanceOptimise infrastructure integration across a hybrid infrastructure estateAbout the CandidateSignificant experience developing, managing or supporting IT systems and platformsExperience working with cloud IT infrastructureTechnical Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge and experience in technology tooling and strategy, governance and technology best practicesCommunication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical vision, architecture, and roadmapsTechnical curiosity, an eagerness to learn, thrives in exposure to new challenges and working outside of their comfort zoneAutonomous and proactiveThe ability to solve problems creativelyAble to work as part of a team with multiple key stakeholders and manage competing prioritiesProficient in operating within an ITIL environmentExperience implementing Desired State Configuration (DSC)/Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and experience working with associated tools (Terraform, Ansible ARM)Automation experience – although a bonus, all development work and many of the key characteristics listed above are transferrable to working in automation, so direct automation project experience is not a hard requirementExperience with CI/CD tools, particularly Azure DevOps & GitHubExperience of Agile practicesContainer managementScripting experience (such as Powershell, Bash, Python)Database technologies (such as Microsoft SQL server and Snowflake)Security (such as Azure Key Vault, encryption)Automated reporting experience (such as Power BI)Diversity & InclusionWe are proud to be a Disability Confident Committed employer.
