Accounts Coordinator

We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join our team in Wigan on a 9-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Assistant Finance Manager, this is an exciting and varied role that is key to producing accurate management accounts through analyzing labour costs and key productivities.
The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, possess the desire to be involved in all tasks within the Finance Department, be able to communicate confidently, and be able to challenge the status quo.
A varied role providing support and insight to enhance site/customer reporting and understanding through the interpretation of information produced to identify opportunities and challenge the operations. The role is Monday to Friday, and there is a requirement to be onsite at least 3 days per week. We are also happy to look at flexible start and finish times to help support a work-life balance.
How will you contribute?
- Analysis of labour hours between Operational departments and assisting Operational Heads to explain key variances.
- Payroll reconciliations in a timely, accurate manner for weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Raising customer invoices and checking variances to ledger postings, ensuring all costs are charged to the customer in a timely manner.
- Raising online Purchase Orders and ad-hoc payment requests for the site.
- Producing weekly customer Flash and KPI packs, including assisting with commentary.
- Delivery of accurate and timely financial reports, working with operations on a weekly and periodic basis to understand variances.
- Assisting with customer period pack production.
- Production of balance sheet and supporting documentation for one large customer.
- Supporting the preparation of annual budgets and customer forecasts to strict timelines and standards.
- Developing strong relationships with both operational managers and the customer.
- Working with the Finance Manager to embed meaningful management information to support the development of opportunities and growth.
- Reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators to support service delivery and contractual commitments.
- Attending and being active in regular customer, team, and site meetings. In addition to being the main contact on site for finance queries.
- Working in partnership with the HR team to ensure robust payroll processes and reporting mechanisms are in place.
- Producing ad-hoc reports, costings, and expenditure trend analysis as required.
What will you bring?
- Transport/Logistics Industry experience would be advantageous but not essential.
- Demonstrating drive, energy, and a commitment to the continuous improvement of overall contract performance.
- Being proactive, inquisitive with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance.
- Being able to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards.
- Must be flexible and respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests.
- Ability to develop good working relationships at all levels.
- Having excellent PC skills and being able to understand and harness IT and systems to benefit the operation.
- A part-qualified accountant (AAT, CIMA, ACA, or ACCA) would be advantageous, but not essential.
