Salary - Competitive, dependant on experience

Hours - Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week with flexible, hybrid working (after successful completion of probationary period)

We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Senior to join our team in the Lewes office.

As an Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for delivering outstanding client service while ensuring the timely and cost-effective completion of assignments.

Key responsibilities of an Accounts Senior will include:

  • Takes ownership of a small portfolio of clients which typically includes a mix of Sole Traders, Partnerships & Limited Companies. Responsibility for the full accounts production service with minimal supervision from Manager.
  • Sufficient level of knowledge and competence to complete the largest & more complex assignments, including groups & specialist assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Competent to produce an accurate corporate tax computation and good knowledge of other taxes, including income tax, VAT etc.
  • Prepare a job to meaningful & realistic budgets, liaising with Manager if there are any issues
  • Support with the management of the Business' daily workflow through work planning, allocation and review, eventually assuming some responsibility for these elements
  • Train team members in processes and technical matters to aid their development
  • Adopt a hands-on approach as necessary to support the team and get the job done
  • Identify and mitigate any obvious risks to both the Business and the Business' clients
  • Continually look to eradicate inefficiencies and improve processes through review and/or implementation of best practice
  • Ensure that all performance, industry and compliance standards are met or exceeded

About you

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified or AAT qualified with minimum of 3 years relevant PQ accounts experience or QBE
  • Recent experience of Accounts production with a good level of technical knowledge of accounting standards
  • Previous knowledge and experience of a broad range of sectors would be an advantage
  • Previous experience of managing own portfolio and supervising/mentoring staff on jobs
  • Good knowledge of accounting systems and control environments within a finance function
  • Working knowledge of accounting software including Sage and Xero, previous use of CCH would be an advantage; experience of sage50 / Netsuite also desirable
  • Strong Excel skills (including vlookup, sumif and Pivot Tables).
  • Solid communication skills, with experience of regular, in-person or telephone client contact
  • Organised and diligent, ensuring that jobs are processed in a timely way and that client requests are dealt with
  • An interest in sector softwares and applications (cloud accounting) to support our clients with their requirements
  • Participative team player that motivates others and willingly accepts tasks to assist others
