The Role

In the midst of overlapping crises—overcrowded prisons, high reoffending rates, a persistent housing shortage, and a skills gap in construction—the award-winning Prisoners Building Homes (PBH) programme offers a triple-win solution.

PBH unites the public and private sectors to unlock land for affordable, quality, low-carbon, sustainable homes, while creating job opportunities for prisoners to help them turn their lives around and reduce reoffending. Initiated by five South West Police and Crime Commissioners (PCCs) and funded by the PCC for Devon and Cornwall, the programme is coordinated by their office under the South West Regional Collaboration.

Now a national cross-government initiative sponsored by the Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Justice, and Police and Crime Commissioners, PBH is supported by the Cabinet Office, Local Government Association, His Majesty's Prison and Probation Service, and Local Partnerships.

Since its national launch in September 2024, PBH has received over 100 site submissions for 700+ homes, working with 14 housebuilders across 13 prisons employing 124 prisoners and ex-prisoners.

We are seeking an Administrative Officer to support the Programme Delivery Manager. Experience in housing or local government sectors is advantageous but not essential.

You will monitor emails, handle enquiries, and possess strong IT skills for data entry, database interrogation, note-taking, and document writing. Experience working with stakeholders, organizing meetings, and scheduling to ensure project smoothness is essential.
