Job Title: AI Prompt Engineer

Hours: Full time

Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at our Leeds, Edinburgh or London offices.

About This Opportunity:

The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has highlighted the progressive potential of AI in strengthening the UK's investment culture, particularly in closing the advice gap and making financial mentorship more accessible. With only 31% of UK adults currently investing and the majority doing so without regulated advice, there's a clear opportunity to support better financial outcomes.

As one of the UK's largest providers of pensions and investments, Scottish Widows is well-positioned to lead this change. Within Lloyds Banking Group, the D2C Investments Platform supports Halifax Share Dealing Ltd. and Ready-Made propositions via Embark and FNZ, delivering investment solutions across trusted brands like Lloyds, Halifax, and Bank of Scotland. Our mission involves redefining the investment experience for our 26 million customers across the UK, harnessing the power of AI.

You'll join our newly formed Agentic AI lab, pushing the boundary of discovery for the industry into the potential of AI technologies in the investing experience. Leading the development and deployment of advanced Artificial Intelligence systems for LBG, you'll maximise your expertise in prompt engineering, software development, Python and CI/CD to build and provision to live robust AI solutions within our investment experience.

What you'll be doing:

  • Shape the design and lead the implementation of advanced AI systems: utilising technology to deliver scalable, intelligent solutions.
  • Design and build prompts to optimise AI performance within a multi-agent framework: manage the full prompt lifecycle across the internal ecosystem
  • Apply wider AI technologies, such as RAG, where appropriate: enhance customer experience by bringing to bear LBG's rich knowledge base.
  • Collaborate with data scientists to translate model requirements into technical solutions: ensuring alignment between business needs and AI capabilities.
  • Deploy and supervise AI systems in production environments: maintain performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AI systems: ensure smooth operation and rapid recovery from technical challenges.
  • Keep up to date with the latest AI technologies and standards: continuously improve systems through innovation and best practice.

Why Lloyds Banking Group:

What you'll need:

  • Prompt engineering expertise: Designed and refined prompts to optimise multi-agent AI systems, applying techniques like zero-shot prompting and RAG with precision and situational awareness.
  • Expert-level Python development: You've built high-performance applications, developed custom modules, and integrated Python with other systems using advanced features and libraries.
  • Applied machine learning: You've selected appropriate models for multifaceted scenarios, diagnosed performance issues, and improved outcomes through hands-on experience.
  • Software engineering best practices: You use design patterns to build scalable, maintainable solutions and lead code reviews to ensure quality across the team.
  • DevOps leadership: You've driven automation and continuous improvement across the development lifecycle, ensuring every build was fast, secure, and reliable.
