The Role
The AI Technical Lead plays a pivotal role in shaping AMS's AI Services capabilities, including modular service endpoints, intelligent agents, and our AI orchestration platform. This role is central to delivering AMS's digital strategy by providing technical leadership and implementation expertise across both customer-facing and internal AI solutions.
You will report to the Head of AI Strategy and Services.
Key Accountabilities
What you'll be doing:

- Design & delivery of AI services and orchestration components on time and to specification
- Demonstrated impact on AI platform scalability and reusability
- Positive feedback from collaborating teams on technical leadership and support
- Contribution to AI architecture standards and documentation
- Measurable improvements in AI service performance, latency, or user satisfaction
- Lead the design and technical delivery of modular, component-based AI services that are scalable, reusable, and aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
- Make timely and well-informed technical decisions that guide the team through ambiguity and ensure consistent progress across AI initiatives.
- Adapt architectural and delivery approaches in response to evolving requirements or constraints, maintaining alignment with strategic outcomes.
- Translate complex technical requirements into clear, actionable plans, enabling shared understanding and effective execution across cross-functional teams.
- Balance speed and quality in solution delivery, making judgement calls that consider broader platform impact and stakeholder expectations.
- Lead resolution of intricate technical challenges, engaging relevant experts and stakeholders to drive consensus and sustainable solutions.
- Drive the evolution of the AI orchestration platform, ensuring seamless integration of services, agents, and third-party APIs.
- Work closely with developers, prompt engineers, and architects from other teams to deliver against AI priorities.
- Provide architectural input and hands-on support to ensure robust, secure, and performant AI solutions.
- Champion best practices in AI engineering, including MLOps, and responsible AI principles.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure AI services are underpinned by scalable data pipelines and technologies such as knowledge graphs and semantic search.
- Ensure technical documentation is maintained and aligned with governance and compliance requirements.
- Finetune and deploy custom models, implement self-learning systems.
Skills & Experience
You'll need to demonstrate:
Technical Skills
Core Development & Platform Expertise
- Proficient in C# and the .NET ecosystem
- Experience developing within the Microsoft Foundry environment and/or leveraging the Azure stack (e.g., Azure Functions, Azure App Services, Azure DevOps, Azure API Management, AI Search)
- Strong understanding of microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and service orchestration patterns
AI & Machine Learning
- Skilled in fine-tuning, and evaluating models, including LLMs and transformer-based architectures
- Familiarity with prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agent-based AI systems
- Experience building learning systems that adapt over time using feedback loops, telemetry, and reinforcement signals
Data Engineering & Integration
- Understanding of data pipeline architecture, including ETL/ELT processes and real-time data streaming (Databricks, Snowflake a bonus)
- Experience with search technologies and knowledge graph implementation
- Proficient in integrating AI services with structured and unstructured data sources
DevOps & Quality
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- Knowledge of MLOps practices for deploying and monitoring AI models in production environments
