Akeneo Solution Architect

About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced Akeneo Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-grade Product Information Management (PIM) solutions for Pivotree clients. This role is pivotal in ensuring our customers maximize their investment in Akeneo as part of a modern commerce stack that integrates with ERP, E-Commerce, DAM, CRM, CPQ, Analytics, and Supply Chain platforms.

You’ll serve as the technical authority and trusted advisor: shaping solution architecture, defining best practices, leading technical teams, and engaging directly with senior client stakeholders.

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end solution architecture for Akeneo PIM across multiple client programs.
  • Discovery & Solutioning: Lead workshops with business and IT stakeholders to capture requirements, model product data, and design governance processes.
  • Design the integration landscape: Define system interactions between Akeneo and ERP, E-Commerce, DAM, CRM, CPQ, BI/Analytics, and Supply Chain platforms.
  • Model PIM domain: Architect attributes, families, variants, reference entities, locales, channels, permissions, workflows, rules engine, and asset families.
  • Governance & Standards: Establish taxonomy, data quality, enrichment workflows, completeness rules, GS1/industry standards alignment, and translation/localization strategies.
  • Integration Oversight: Guide developers on APIs, webhooks, ETL/iPaaS, queues, and batch pipelines; ensure scalability, security, and monitoring are in place.
  • Technical Leadership: Mentor integration developers and ensure delivery consistency across projects.
  • Client Advisory: Serve as a subject matter expert on PIM maturity models, Akeneo best practices, and product data governance frameworks.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct solution reviews, enforce coding and design standards, and provide architectural sign-off before releases.
  • Pre-Sales Support: Partner with Sales Engineers and Delivery Managers in RFPs, proposals, and early solution shaping for prospective clients.
  • Innovation: Contribute to Pivotree’s Akeneo practice accelerators (blueprints, connectors, migration scripts, and playbooks).

What You Bring

  • 8+ years in enterprise software architecture, with 3+ years in PIM/PXM and 2+ years hands-on with Akeneo (Enterprise Edition).
  • Strong expertise in product data modeling and governance across retail, distribution, or manufacturing.
  • Proven track record designing Akeneo integrations with ERP (SAP/Oracle/Dynamics), E-Commerce (Magento/Adobe, Shopify, SFCC, commercetools), and DAM/CRM/Analytics.
  • Familiarity with Akeneo advanced modules (Asset Manager, Onboarder, Shared Catalogs, Franklin, AI-based enrichment).
  • Proficiency in APIs, event-driven architectures, ETL/iPaaS (MuleSoft, Boomi, Celigo, Workato), and data warehousing.
  • Strong grasp of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and CI/CD practices.
  • Knowledge of security/compliance (OAuth2/JWT, PII handling, auditability).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills — able to present complex solutions to executives and mentor technical teams.

Nice to Have

  • Akeneo certifications (Integrator, Developer, Architect).
  • Experience in composable commerce architectures (MACH: Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless).
  • Experience with data governance / MDM solutions.
  • Familiarity with translation/localization platforms and GenAI-driven enrichment.
  • Prior consulting/agency experience leading multi-million dollar digital transformation projects.

Key Outcomes (First 90 Days)

  • Deliver a comprehensive Akeneo architecture blueprint for at least one enterprise client.
  • Establish governance frameworks for product data modeling, enrichment, and completeness.
  • Provide technical leadership for a client integration stream (ERP + E-Commerce).

Contribute to Pivotree’s Akeneo practice playbook with reusable reference architectures and best practices.
