Overview
Following Amberside Advisors' recent partnership with Steer and to support our future growth plans, we are looking to strengthen our team with the appointment of an experienced Manager.
As a Manager, you will become an advocate of the firm who pushes forward internal (such as maintaining marketing data) and external initiatives. The role involves building and maintaining strong business relationships with clients, executing projects to a high standard, and working with and managing other colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Start to take the lead on multiple projects or programmes through the management of a team with the contribution of cross divisional specialists
- Rigorously executing projects to a level that meet the high-quality standards of Amberside Advisors and reviewing completion to identify lessons learned and enhance future quality and planning
- Build and cultivate strong business relationships, identify new opportunities, lead negotiations, and demonstrate technical and operational leadership to deliver quality, client-centric solutions
- Work on CPD to sustain professional status/accreditation and develop and maintain a portfolio of clients and professional networks by building strategic relationships with senior stakeholders of existing or new clients
- Seek, develop, and drive business development opportunities, while anticipating current and future needs of the company based on client/industry research
- Manage scope, preparation, delivery, reporting and evaluation for larger and higher-risk projects and engagements
- Effectively manage commercial and contractual aspects of engagements to achieve expected quality, profitability, and deadlines
- Communicate risk and issues early to appropriate colleagues and suggest solutions
- Maintain awareness of market trends, competitor activity and products/services, sharing pertinent market/client knowledge with senior management
- Collaborate with peers to form a cohesive senior management team and participate in decisions such as resource allocation
- Take action to ensure employee wellbeing is actively managed or escalated if needed
- Review junior team’s work to ensure quality; identify development needs and provide coaching, mentoring and stretch assignments to attract, develop and retain talent
- Meet deadlines throughout the Amberside Advisors Performance Development Cycle, including appraisals, objective setting, and managing underperformance where necessary
- Ensure team are accurately charged time to engagement codes to reflect true value of work delivered
- Support onboarding of new joiners
Requirements
About the candidate
You must be self-motivated, a team player, and have a passion for working on large projects that make a difference. The role requires working to deadlines, prioritising workload, and always providing a high level of service.

- Understanding financial drivers for each project with the ability to explain impact clearly
- Initiative and the ability to make decisions promptly
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to translate to an Excel model
- Clear and concise communication, verbally or in writing
- Role model behaviour in line with Amberside Advisors values
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Team-oriented with effective communication
- Ability to cope under pressure from competing priorities
- Ability to apply research skills to solve new issues and drive improvements
Professional Experience
- Experience in a consulting role in financial services
- Experience delivering large-scale financial projects, including designing and implementing financial operating models
- Financial modelling, budgeting, business planning, forecasting and analysis experience
- Experience as an effective team player with leadership responsibilities
Qualifications
- A first-level university degree (2:1 or equivalent) is desirable but not compulsory
- An accounting qualification (ACA, ACMA, ACCA) or similar
