Insight & Analytics are recruiting an Analyst to work closely with Children’s Services for an 18-month period.
Analyst – Virtual School / Early Years | 18 Month Secondment
Education
An exciting opportunity is available within the Children’s Services (Education & Inclusion) team to fill a secondment Analyst post, jointly supporting two key areas of Children’s Services:
Norfolk Virtual School for Children in Care, Previously in Care, Children with a Social Worker and Kinship
The virtual school has a statutory role to provide advice, support and guidance to promote the educational achievement of Children in care and Previously in care. More recently this has been expanded to include a non-statutory strategic role for Children with a Social Worker and Children in Kinship Care. This role will support the virtual school by maintaining and developing an existing suite of PowerBI reports. The role also provides the opportunity to perform key analysis of educational outcomes. This is in support of enabling the Virtual School to describe, understand and communicate their key indicators over time through routine communications such as the annual report or internal team planning.
Early Years
The Early Years service has a statutory role to secure sufficient childcare in Norfolk for parents/carers. The Analyst will support the Sufficiency lead to understand and extract the most value from their data, and advise on data collection to support this work. The aim of this analysis is to inform action planning for the service which will aid decision making in the deployment of resources to meet their statutory duty. This area is a high priority due to recent expansions of funded childcare places for eligible parents or carers.
For both aspects of the role, the teams are at an exciting point in their development, providing opportunities for shaping new analysis with a foundation of existing reporting in place. The job will include a variety of tasks, and the post holder will need to effectively manage and prioritise their own workload, working closely with the services and other colleagues within I&A. Power BI dashboard development will be a key part of the role, using data sources including DfE publications, locally held datasets and data models.
This is an ideal opportunity for an Assistant Analyst with drive to develop their skills and business knowledge, or for a candidate from outside I&A to apply their interest in Children’s Services in a more technical way. Experience of Children’s Services and working with Pupil data specifically would be an advantage.
For more information or an informal chat about the role, please contact Martin Mander – Business Insight Manager: martin.mander@norfolk.gov.uk | 01603 223913
