Analytics Engineer (Problem-Solver in Data)

We are looking for someone who is passionate about turning data into practical solutions. This role requires strong technical skills in Python and SQL and is about solving real problems with data, using the right tools and approaches for the job. You will help design processes that make data more usable, reliable, and insightful, ensuring that analysts, product teams, and stakeholders can make better decisions. You will also contribute to machine learning initiatives and help shape how data is used across the organisation. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, whether you think of yourself as an analyst, engineer, data practitioner, applied scientist, or technical problem-solver.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, building, and maintaining automated data pipelines using Python and SQL across platforms like Databricks, Google BigQuery, and Airflow.
  • Creating reliable ways to bring in data from APIs and external sources, with a focus on scalability and security.
  • Designing data models and structures that balance performance, usability, and clarity.
  • Collaborating with analysts and BI developers to deliver insight-ready data that powers dashboards, analytics, and business decisions.
  • Proactively monitoring data quality, resolving issues, and contributing to governance through documentation, testing, and continuous improvement.
  • Partnering with stakeholders to refine requirements and find practical solutions, not just technical ones.

Requirements

  • Strong skills in Python and advanced SQL for working with complex datasets.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., BigQuery, Databricks, Airflow) and a willingness to learn new tools.
  • Familiarity with ingesting data via APIs and transforming large datasets efficiently and securely.
  • Understanding of data modelling and performance optimisation, with an eye for usability.
  • Clear communication skills, able to explain data concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A problem-solving mindset: delivering value and insights with openness to learn and grow in a supportive team environment, rather than sticking to one rigid way of working.

Benefits

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays + holiday buying scheme
  • Worksave pension scheme with up to 7% employer contribution
  • Free AA breakdown membership from Day 1 plus 50% discount for family and friends
  • Discounts on AA products including car and home insurance
  • Employee discount scheme for car salary sacrifice and healthcare, shopping, holidays and more
  • Company funded life assurance
  • Diverse learning and development opportunities to progress in your career
  • Dedicated Employee Assistance Programme and a 24/7 remote GP service for you and your family
  • Plus, so much more!

We’re an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from everyone. The AA values diversity and the difference this brings to our culture and our customers. We actively seek people from diverse backgrounds to join us and become part of an inclusive company where you can be yourself, be empowered to be your best and feel like you truly belong. We have five communities to bring together people with shared characteristics and drive positive change.
