Artificial Intelligence Officer - WMF2196e

Contract Type: Permanent

About this opportunity

We’re excited to announce new opportunities across our Digital Innovation Team. As we embark on a digital transformation journey, there’s no better time to get involved.

We’re seeking talented individuals to help shape our organization’s future.

Join a dynamic, forward-thinking team that’s driving change.

As part of our commitment to innovation and digital transformation, we’re recruiting an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Officer to join the Digital Innovation Team at Westmorland and Furness Council.

AI is a key priority nationally and locally. We are developing a program to explore, implement, and scale AI solutions to improve services and outcomes for our communities.

As an AI Officer, you will support the delivery of our AI Program by coordinating activities, assisting with pilot projects, and shaping AI use across the organization. You will collaborate with stakeholders from all Directorates to ensure alignment with service needs and organizational goals.

This role offers a unique chance to turn emerging technologies into practical improvements for residents, contributing to our Customer Strategy and Digital Ambition.

Who we are looking for…

We seek someone curious, motivated, and confident in engaging with various stakeholders. You do not need to be a technical AI expert but should understand how digital technologies can support service delivery, possess strong organizational skills, and communicate effectively.

Experience in supporting projects or programs, managing competing priorities, and working collaboratively across teams is essential.

This position is ideal for someone looking to develop a career in digital innovation, especially with an interest in emerging technology and its role in public services. If you are excited about AI’s potential to improve outcomes and want to shape the future of local government, we’d love to hear from you.

What we offer you!

Working at Westmorland and Furness Council, you will enjoy benefits such as a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave, and various perks and discounts. For more details about life at the council and our benefits, please visit our Careers site.
