WJEC is inviting applications for a new Assistant Director to the Policy and Regulation department.
The role
The Assistant Director: Policy and Regulation is central to the smooth operation and public trust in WJEC. As Deputy Responsible Officer, the role involves liaising with regulators, responding to queries on Conditions of Regulation, Standards, and public confidence matters. The role requires proactive management of legal/regulatory changes to ensure compliance within a dynamic political environment. Leadership of our Centre Management, Compliance, Regulation, and Special Requirements teams is essential, along with promoting WJEC’s Diversity and Inclusion strategy and fulfilling obligations around Reasonable Adjustments to support learners' full potential.
About you
You should be an experienced leader in the education sector with a good understanding of regulatory systems, processes, and timelines for awarding bodies. Excellent interpersonal skills, credibility, and trustworthiness with senior stakeholders are crucial. You must be confident managing a moderate-high risk portfolio and making fair, considered, and robust decisions.
