OverviewAssistant Geotechnical Engineer / Assistant Geo-Environmental Engineer. Our client is looking for a number of Assistant Geotechnical Engineer and Assistant Geo-Environmental Engineer positions, in either Nottingham, Leeds or Birmingham. Successful individuals will have at least 1-2 years post graduate relevant work experience. An attractive basic salary (commensurate with experience) plus extensive benefits package, including bonus, pension, healthcare and a fully expensed vehicle is on offer to the successful candidate, along with longevity and security of work and forward career progression given that our client possesses a significant contract pipeline for the long-term future and is firmly committed to continued growth over the next 5-10 years.The PersonA minimum 2:2 BSc (Hons) in Geology, Civil Engineering or related subject1-2 year’s previous practical ground investigation or relevant experience, post-graduationKnowledge of ground investigation techniques and BS5930Experience with geotechnical data management software packages such as Openground / Holebase / Gint / Pebble Geo etcIT competent in Microsoft packages, and the ability to work independently or with a teamAbility to work effectively to deadlines and under pressureGood attention to detail and accuracy of work, effective planning and organisation skillsA structured approach to problem solving, with excellent written and verbal communicationAwareness of the relevant industry legal and safety regulationsExperience with AutoCAD / Microsoft Visio [desirable]Experience with GPS/GNSS survey equipment [desirable]Experience driving larger vehicles such as 4x4s and vans [desirable]Eligible to work and live in the UK unassisted, flexibility to travel across the UK.The RoleGather geotechnical and geoenvironmental data from a wide range of work environmentsUndertake geotechnical analytical work, to include planning, execution and reporting of Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical site investigationsManaging geotechnical project data to drive contract deliverablesAssist with various field activities including assessment and analysis of geotechnical conditions and investigationsInvolvement in laboratory testing programmes for soil and rock samplesPrepare and assist with reviewing, analysing and interpreting geotechnical dataAssist with report writing and technical notesUndertake R&D projects including developing innovative engineering tools and solutionsImplement operational quality control measures and quality assurance processesTake a proactive approach in the responsibility for Health and SafetyAttend regular meetings with internal and external partiesAssist with soil and groundwater risk assessments, liaising with clientsWorking collaboratively with engineers and others to deliver quality reportsReflect and promote the company’s values through your work and conductA full driving licence, that is valid in the UK, and a valid CSCS cardAttention to detail, with experience in compiling critical data from multiple sourcesAbout the ClientOur client is a market leading piling, foundations and geotechnical engineering contractor and consultancy.
