Role Overview

To assist and support the Merchandising team, working closely with your Merchandiser as well as the Buying department to deliver a commercially strong range across all channels. Working within a small team you will be expected to juggle a fast paced and changing workload and be able to multi-task, supporting your Merchandiser across trading and reporting. You will also be integral to the training of the team’s Merchandising Admin Assistant.

What We Expect From You

You will be responsible for:

Planning

  • Work with the merchandising team to ensure effective planning of stock flow, commitment, intake and distribution.
  • Assist in departmental seasonal sales planning and re-forecasting, utilising lessons learnt
  • Support the merchandising team in reviewing existing store layouts to help plan the best use of space in stores
  • Support the merchandising team to plan and manage stock distributions to stores

Analysis

  • Analyse historic sales patterns and trends.
  • Produce weekly trading packs, measuring trade against department and business KPIs
  • Manage markdown and promotional planning for product areas – striving to minimise markdown and drive profitability
  • Provide information for key trading meetings including departmental sign off reviews.
  • Provide regular analysis on stock levels, sales performance and purchasing, and communicating findings clearly and appropriately
  • Assist in management of the dept WSSI and other key trading documents

Trading / Operations

  • Continually identify trading risks/ opportunities to maintain flexibility and optimise performance.
  • Responding to store queries promptly and professionally, taking note of wider issues and taking actions as necessary
  • Oversee management of prices for both current season and markdown periods, managing MAAs through price changes as required
  • Overseeing hierarchies and other key line information, ensuring merchandising style information is being kept up to date across systems
  • Liaising with the warehouse / key business partners to help manage stock levels and capacity
  • Liaising with shipping, buying and technical team to confirm shipping and handover dates
  • Track and monitor intake vs plan, highlighting risks and escalating where necessary

Other

  • Fully supporting the Merchandiser in the day-to-day aspect of their role
  • Attend store visits, providing useful information and recommendations, and feedback with actions required.
  • Deputise for Merchandiser where appropriate, attending and presenting in trading meetings where relevant
  • Work independently using commercial knowledge and past experience to make decisions

Skills We Require For The Role

  • Proven experience working as an Assistant Merchandiser or Merchandising Administrative Assistant
  • Proven numerate and analytical skills plus excellent verbal and written English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with experience of working with Merchandising systems including WSSI
  • Be an efficient and reliable team member who can be responsible for their own workload
  • Build positive relationships within your own team and between other functions, and be able to influence others
  • An ability to multitask and effectively prioritise workload
