The Role:

The Assistant Merchandiser’s role is to ensure that the company budgets are delivered through management of the day-to-day activities, making decisions on trading opportunities to maximise sales and profit. This role will have a particular focus on International markets including NAB, South Korea, Japan, Australia, and the US.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with international buying teams to achieve set budgets, covering buying, forecasting, trading, and markdowns at season end.
  2. Prepare weekly global reports for Trade Meetings and analyze weekly performances to recommend actions to drive trade.
  3. Coordinate information flow within the business, communicating between Head Office and international markets.
  4. Build strong relationships with local GMs, Buying teams, and Visual Merchandisers to improve market performance.
  5. Provide comprehensive analysis of historical performance to inform strategic plans.
  6. Assist with core and seasonal buys for international markets, ensuring alignment with Head Office strategy.
  7. Manage forecasting and orders for specific international markets.
  8. Compile sign-off documents for buying decisions.
  9. Maintain optimal stock levels through re-buys and re-phasing of intake.
  10. Monitor and control stock intake and commitments in line with business expectations.
  11. Ensure trading tools reflect accurate sales, stock, intake, and margin data, re-forecasting as needed.
  12. Provide timely analysis of current performance and act proactively on results.
  13. Build relationships with Customer Services, Commercial, and Warehouse teams to optimize product flow.
  14. Maintain seasonal reports such as sell-through and PGR budgets.
  15. Lead monthly product meetings with analysis and recommendations.
  16. Conduct competitor shops and present findings to relevant teams.
