Overview

WRc Group, part of RSK Group, is seeking Assistant Project Managers to join our growing business. This full-time position can be based in our Manchester office or a mix of home and office work as best suits the candidate and the business.

As an Assistant Project Manager you will join our busy Project Management Team in the planning and delivery of a portfolio of projects across the world, to defined scope, cost and quality for our clients. This role is suitable for candidates with an engineering or scientific background and ideally with previous commercial or administrative experience, though other backgrounds will be considered. Projects range from £5k to over £1m and address challenges where the built environment interacts with nature. There is potential to work internationally when opportunities arise.

Responsibilities

  • To manage the delivery of projects or portfolios of projects in line with business requirements and customer expectations, ensuring safety and environmental responsibility to cost, time and quality in line with company standards and procedures.
  • Provide a professional, first-class, consistent and effective project management service to clients and all stakeholders.
  • Act as the key day-to-day client interface; manage the flow of project information between the team and the client through regular meetings and written communication.
  • Coordinate all resources for the flawless execution of projects; motivate project teams to deliver exceptional service to clients.
  • Promote a culture of pro-activity, innovation, transparency, collaboration and flexibility in all aspects of project delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain definitions of project requirements; establish success criteria (time, cost, technical and performance parameters) and disseminate them to all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress; develop and implement resource plans and procurement of resources; manage resource availability and allocation to ensure timely delivery.
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues and conflicts; develop and agree budgets and monitor forecast vs. actual costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate tools; identify variances and implement countermeasures; manage project risks and issues to mitigate impact to baseline.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable project management experience, delivering projects to defined scope, cost and quality.
  • Experience managing a diverse portfolio of projects with multiple clients to demanding timescales.
  • Excellent communicator with a proven ability to build strong relationships with clients, teams and stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, particularly Teams, Excel and Word.
  • Working towards or a desire to obtain a professional project management qualification is highly desirable.
  • Experience using business analysis tools such as PowerBI is desirable.
  • Engineering or scientific background is beneficial, as is experience in a consultancy environment, ideally in the utilities sector.
