We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Associate / Associate Director to join our nationwide Environmental Consents team. This role is of strategic importance to our business and offers a challenging opportunity to lead multi-disciplinary inputs for energy projects across a broad client base. Our current projects include some of the UK’s most significant infrastructure initiatives, supporting the UK’s Net Zero commitments. We seek individuals with a creative spirit, a dedicated approach, and a solid background in environmental design, assessment, and management throughout the project lifecycle.

As an Associate / Associate Director, you will collaborate with technical environmental specialists and design teams across sectors to lead environmental inputs and improve project performance. You will influence, lead, and deliver environmental aspects of engineering projects, managing recruitment, bidding, project delivery, and financials.
- Expand and diversify our water sector offerings, collaborating with sector leads and client managers to provide thought leadership and secure new business
- Provide environmental advice and support to clients, project managers, and colleagues
- Work with environmental specialists, clients, and engineering teams to promote sustainable design and environmental enhancement
- Lead large, complex projects, overseeing technical, quality, commercial, and safety performance
- Build client relationships and identify opportunities for resourcing, strategy, and project support
- Develop new client relationships and market services through presentations and business development activities
- Contribute to innovative techniques such as Digital EIA and Technical Excellence
- Drive team performance, career development, and promote a positive team culture
- Support an inclusive workplace, emphasizing health and safety and living WSP’s values
- Contribute to business strategy and role-specific goals
What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate…
- Relevant environmental or planning degree or equivalent experience
- Experience in EIA delivery for major water schemes
- Knowledge of consenting processes like Habitats Regulations Assessments, SSSI Assents
- Strong understanding of environmental issues
- Line management experience
- Track record of developing and upskilling teams
- Experience in driving business growth
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
