This is a rare opportunity to work on signature developments while contributing to the growth and direction of our growing and innovative business. We are seeking a chartered Quantity Surveyor capable of operating at Associate Director level to join our Birmingham office. You’ll also have the chance to mentor junior team members, support business development efforts, and help shape the future of our Midlands presence. We’re currently partnered with several exciting clients which include large scale, prime high-rise residential projects in the city centre. In addition to our signature projects, we are also working on a diverse portfolio of projects within the region which span across multiple sectors of the built environment. As Associate Director, we would be looking to utilise your skills and experience working on our largest and most complex projects and signature clients. Therefore, we’re seeking a well-rounded professional with strong technical skills, commercial awareness, and excellent people management skills. You’ll bring a proven ability to manage client relationships, deliver high-quality outcomes and contribute to business development initiatives. Responsibilities
Working in a leadership role alongside a team of Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers reporting directly into the Executive Director whilst providing a cost consulting role to the client. Ensure that our clients achieve their stated objectives through close teamwork, proactive cost control and the provision of contractual advice. Managing clients and taking an active role in the profit and loss management for individual client accounts. Attend and/or chair meetings with client. Prepare financial reports. Monitor the communication of a project status. Prepare full tender documentation. Provide advice on contractors, specialists, procurement routes, cost and programme solutions. Provide advice on suitability and preparation of contract documents. Prepare management reports. Monitor performance milestones and deliverables. Administer cost/variation procedures. Carry out full post contract surveying duties including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and disputes. Provide day-to-day cost management of projects from estimate preparation and cost planning through to final account settlements. Take an active role in managing, mentoring and supporting the development of junior staff within the Birmingham office. Cultivate positive and trusting relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
Qualifications
Associate Director Cost Management, a relevant degree or masters qualification in quantity surveying or similar subject. Full membership of a relevant professional body such as RICS or similar. The ability to autonomously carry out a full range of pre and post contract duties from conception through to final accounting. Strong client facing and stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrable experience in leading client-facing roles while delivering cost consulting services. Excellent people management skills and demonstrable experience of managing small teams and developing junior staff members. Strong commercial acumen and the ability to contribute to strategic growth decisions and revenue growth through new or expanded client relationships. Proven experience on large-scale construction projects within the built environment, including high-rise residential projects and build-to-rent sector experience preferred or respected on similarly large-scale projects. Familiar with common forms of contract such as JCT and NEC. Strong IT skills and proficiency with common software packages; committed to staying up-to-date with industry developments and innovation.
