Associate Director, Faculty Philanthropy - Strand, London, WC2R 2LS
This is a new senior leadership role within Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement (P&A) at King’s College London. The post has responsibility for shaping, leading and growing philanthropy across the nine academic faculties. The role supports King’s ambition to scale philanthropic income ahead of the 2027 fundraising campaign and the university’s bicentenary in 2029, working with senior leaders to create a sustainable philanthropic programme across all faculties.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and coordination of all faculty-based major gift fundraising, ensuring delivery of income and activity goals for each faculty.
- Lead two teams of senior fundraisers embedded within faculties; manage and inspire staff and cultivate a high-performing, values-driven team culture.
- Manage a personal portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, building relationships that lead to six-, seven- and eight-figure philanthropic support for King’s.
- Act as a central point of contact and escalation for Executive Deans; ensure a consistent approach to fundraising across all faculties.
- Collaborate with the Executive Deans and senior leaders to design and implement a sustainable philanthropy programme across the University’s faculties.
- Contribute to wider philanthropy strategy and leadership alongside other senior leaders, including collaboration with the Associate Directors of Principal & International Giving and King’s Maudsley Partnership Philanthropy.
- Support the delivery of related campaigns and impact-focused fundraising activities in line with university priorities.
Qualifications (or Elements of Experience)
- Senior leadership experience in philanthropy and alumni engagement, with a track record of leading major gift fundraising.
- Ability to manage a portfolio of high-value prospects (six, seven and eight figures).
- Experience in leading and coordinating multi-team fundraising efforts across academic faculties.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage Executive Deans and senior university leadership.
