About this Role
The Scottish National Investment Bank is in search of an Associate Director to lead place-led investments aimed at sustainable and equitable growth. As an integral part of the Investment Origination Team, the candidate will identify, structure, and execute high-impact investment transactions. The role demands experience in complex investment environments, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and problem-solving within a dynamic team setting. Responsibilities
- Lead or support deals from origination to structuring and close for diverse place-focused investments.
- Collaborate with colleagues across Investment Risk, Investment Legal, and Impact Assessment to ensure mission-aligned investments.
- Manage due diligence, financial modelling, and risk analysis; contribute to structuring investments including loans, equity or hybrids.
- Draft and review comprehensive investment papers and mentor junior team members.
- Ensure successful negotiation and conclusion of legal documentation aligning with governance and policy standards.
- Build and maintain sustainable relationships within Scotland’s place investment ecosystem including banks, advisers, co-investors, and entrepreneurs.
- Support strategic engagements with government and industry stakeholders to further the bank’s mission.
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience in investing/financing place-relevant projects or relevant investment/commercial industry experience.
- Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred; professional qualifications (e.g., CA, CFA, ACT) advantageous.
- Strong background in private equity, venture capital, or investment banking focused on innovation.
- Practical experience in managing transactions from origination through to close in transactional or M&A contexts.
- Knowledge of sustainable investment techniques and familiarity with Scotland’s place ecosystem desirable.
- Flexibility to work within transaction-driven deadlines in a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

- Salary range of £83,000 – £98,000
