Associate Director (Research) – Research Consulting Team

Hybrid (2+ days a week in our Newbury office)

35 hours per week, full time

Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the role

As an Associate Director (Research), you’ll be at the heart of our Research Consulting Team—balancing hands-on project delivery with shaping the strategic direction of the team. Around 40% of your time will be spent leading and delivering high-impact research projects, while the rest will focus on line management, team development, and driving innovation in how we work.

You’ll partner with clients across global B2B technology markets, helping them answer complex questions through research that influences business decision-making. At the same time, you’ll play a key leadership role within our team—mentoring colleagues, improving processes, and ensuring we’re always ahead of the curve.

What you’ll do

  • Lead research projects: design questionnaires, deliver insightful analysis, craft compelling reports, and present findings that tell a clear story.
  • Partner with clients: manage relationships throughout project lifecycles with a consultative, solutions-focused approach.
  • Develop the team: line manage, coach, and support colleagues, while ensuring resources are planned effectively.
  • Shape strategy: work alongside the Research Director to roll out team objectives, improve processes, and explore new opportunities.
  • Drive innovation: research new tools, share best practices, and create thought leadership content.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in quantitative research (qualitative a bonus).
  • Strong ability to analyse data and turn insights into stories.
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
  • A strategic, consultative mindset, with experience managing people and projects.
  • A relevant degree (2:1 or equivalent) and demonstrable research experience.

What you’ll gain

  • Exposure to cutting-edge IT and technology topics.
  • Development in advanced methodologies, consultative management, and commercial awareness.
  • Opportunities to contribute to thought leadership (webinars, events, eBooks).
  • Support with continuous professional development.
  • Career growth in a supportive, collaborative, and ambitious team.

At Vanson Bourne, we’re committed to building a culture where innovation, collaboration, and professional growth thrive. You’ll be part of a team that values fresh thinking, celebrates success, and supports you to reach your potential—all while making a real impact on global B2B research.

Our benefits package includes:

  • Flexible hybrid working– with at least 2 days a week in our central Newbury office
  • Generous holiday allowance– 25 days plus bank holidays, increases with length of service (up to 30 days)
  • Company performance bonus– recognising your contribution and impact
  • Company pension scheme– helping you plan for the future
  • Health cash plan– to look after your health and peace of mind
  • Life assurance (Death in Service)– providing additional security for your loved ones
  • Team culture– regular social events and activities to connect and celebrate together
  • Employee referral bonus– £1,000 for successful recommendations
  • Office Parking

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, and we’re proud to be building an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.
