An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Associate Director - Transport Planner to join a growing and well-respected consultancy with offices across the UK. This is a key leadership role within their newly established Birmingham office, offering the chance to shape and lead a dynamic transport planning team delivering across public and private sector projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the full transport planning process across a broad portfolio of development and infrastructure schemes. This includes managing resources, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical outputs, driving business development, and mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities:
·Work closely with the senior management team to implement business strategies aligned with long-term growth objectives
·Lead business development activities and identify new service offerings or market opportunities
·Manage team resourcing and oversee workloads to ensure efficient delivery and prioritisation
·Monitor and manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables
·Act as the key point of contact for clients, local authorities, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle
·Ensure all technical outputs meet relevant UK standards and local guidance requirements
·Oversee the preparation and quality checking of transport assessments, statements, and technical reports
·Support and mentor junior team members through feedback, training, and development
·Collaborate with other regional teams and contribute to multi-disciplinary projects
·Promote innovation, efficiency, and best practices across the team
·Ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations

Requirements:
Essential:
·Strong team leadership and project management experience
·Proven ability to manage technical teams and allocate resources effectively
·Solid understanding of UK transport planning policy, procedures, and modelling software
·Confident client engagement and communication skills
·Ability to produce and review technical reports to a high standard
·Experience using transport modelling tools (e.g. ARCADY, PICADY, LinSig)
·Competent in AutoCAD for transport-related designs
·Experience mentoring junior staff and promoting a positive team culture
Desirable:
·Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. MCIHT)
·Valid UK driving licence
