This is a leadership role—ideal for someone who not only wants to deliver great design work, but also mentor others, shape projects at a strategic level, and influence the future direction of a growing, design-led business. You'll work in a consultancy known for its low-carbon design ethos, Passivhaus credentials, and collaborative partnerships with architects, developers, and forward-thinking clients. Responsibilities
Lead the electrical discipline on high-performance building services projects across education, residential, heritage, and science sectors Take ownership of design quality, from early-stage feasibility through to construction and post-occupancy Act as a mentor and technical guide to junior and intermediate engineers, creating a culture of development and collaboration Represent the business at a senior level in client meetings, design workshops, and project reviews Work closely with the mechanical, sustainability, and BIM teams to deliver coordinated and compliant MEP designs Contribute to strategic planning, team resourcing, and client development Help drive innovation in sustainable technologies and low-energy system design Engage in continuous improvement of internal processes, QA procedures, and design standards
What You Bring
A degree (or equivalent) in Electrical or Building Services Engineering Strong understanding of electrical systems in buildings: power, lighting, life safety, data, controls, etc. Up-to-date with UK standards (BS 7671), building regs, CIBSE guides, and sustainability frameworks (e.g. Passivhaus, BREEAM) Confidence leading teams and managing client relationships Competency in design tools: AutoCAD, Revit (desirable), Amtech, Dialux/Relux Chartered or actively working towards CEng status A clear communicator with a strategic mindset and a collaborative approach
