About Lloyds Living
Lloyds Living is on a mission to redefine renting in the UK and help more people onto the home ownership ladder through shared ownership. We’re backed by Lloyds Banking Group, and we’re growing fast – which means opportunities to gain experience, learn, grow and make your mark. We currently own circa 4,000 homes with strong backing and appetite to be the biggest and best provider of Build to Rent (BtR) homes in the UK.
About the Lloyds Living ESG Desk
Established in February 2025, the ESG Desk was created to realise our strategic objective of putting ESG front and centre in the Lloyds Living business. It seeks to embed ESG considerations end-to-end within the business: From the way we invest in new homes to the development of our customer proposition and the management of our homes, doing so within commercial realities and operational limits.
Job Description
The Lloyds Living ESG Desk is seeking an ‘Associate (ESG)’ to join its small but perfectly formed team. If you’re passionate about the sustainability and responsible business agenda and have the drive to make a difference, we want to hear from you!
You will play an integral role in delivering and embedding ESG ambitions within the Lloyds Living business as part of a small and close knit ESG Team. You will leverage a blend of technical expertise and soft skills to influence outcomes and deliver ESG projects and initiatives.
Environmental
Our initiatives include the recently completed retrofitting of 23 homes at Winnycroft, Gloucester to Zero Bills Homes standard, winning the Octopus ‘Retrofit of the Year’ Award and providing our customers with peace of mind against rising energy prices, with no energy bills to pay for at least five years.
Social
We piloted the introduction of three temporary homes with a specialist housing expert who works with vulnerable people, providing good quality and safe homes for three families who would otherwise have been housed in hotels or bed & breakfast whilst awaiting permanent accommodation.
Governance
We are focussed on developing and implementing a carbon intensity reduction strategy for our net zero journey and meeting Group reporting requirements, like the Sustainability Report.
These examples showcase the breadth of initiatives led by the Lloyds Living ESG Desk across our environmental, social and governance pillars, and we have ambitions to do even more!
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead on technical development and data analysis of ESG initiatives such as carbon emission calculations and forecasting modelling.
- Responsible for quarterly reporting of carbon emissions reporting and enduring maintenance of forecasting model with support from Group Sustainable Business (GSB).
- Work with the Investment Team to forecast impact of future transactions on our glidepath towards a net zero portfolio target.
- Work with the Operations Team on the delivery of the carbon intensity reduction target (linked to a broader Asset Management Strategy).
- Lead on delivering projects and initiatives, linked to the ESG pillars.
- Lead on delivery of agreed ESG communication and engagement initiatives including ESG Lunch & Learn sessions, site visits and campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Data Team to continually enhance the ESG Dashboard in the Lloyds Living Data Dashboard.
- Support research and development of strategy to advance Lloyds Living’s ESG priorities and ambitions.
- Support reporting requirements at both Group and Lloyds Living levels (as required) to provide business resilience to the ESG Desk.
- Deputise for the Head of ESG as required.
Must Haves Skills & Experience:
Data and Business Insights - Use data and produce insights to support research & development, develop carbon emissions modelling, influence outcomes and provide quality reporting to support tracking and governance.
Managing Key Relationships - Establish, build and manage key relationships across the business such as the Investment Team and Operations Team to support the successful delivery of ESG projects and priorities. Experience in dealing with a wide variety of stakeholders including senior stakeholders at Executive level is essential.
Communication - Strong written communication and ability to articulate key messages in a clear, engaging and compelling manner - with an ability to simplify the complex - alongside a proficient level of PowerPoint presentation.
Planning & Prioritisation - Proven experience in planning and delivering projects with the ability to prioritise tasks and activities to meet deadlines as part of a team.
Continued Learning – Adopts a growth mindset to develop self through existing formal and informal training opportunities and shows curiosity in emerging green innovation and technologies.
Nice to Haves Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
A relevant qualification in sustainability is desirable but not essential, as is some knowledge and experience in the use of statistical tools and analysis.
