Managing the mechanical design and delivery of building services projects across various sectors. Oversee the production of high-quality design documentation including calculations, specifications, reports, and technical drawings. Assist with preparation of enquiry plans, tender reviews, estimate sheets, scopes of work and change controls. Manage project programmes, resources, and budgets from concept through to construction and commissioning stages. Act as the main point of contact for clients, design teams, and contractors, fostering strong and lasting relationships. Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and professional development. Support strategic business development including proposals, bid submissions, and client presentations.
Qualifications/Experience
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (BEng/BSc or MEng/MSc). Chartered Engineer status (CEng) with CIBSE, IMechE, or working towards chartership. Proven experience (typically 8-15+ years) in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or multidisciplinary environment. Strong technical expertise in HVAC, ventilation, and public health system design across various sectors. Extensive experience leading projects through all RIBA stages, from concept to handover. Familiarity with UK building regulations, CIBSE guides, and industry standards. Demonstrated leadership in managing design teams and mentoring junior engineers. Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with a proven track record in stakeholder engagement. Commercial awareness with experience preparing proposals.
