The Associate, Private Credit Sustainability Research will sit in the Private Credit Sustainability Research team at MetLife Investment Management (MIM). This research team provides dedicated sustainability expertise, research, and impact reporting within Investment Grade Private Credit.
The Private Credit Sustainability Research team develops specific sustainable investment solutions for the Corporate Private Placement and Infrastructure Debt markets, researching borrowers’ sustainability practices, engaging with borrowers and industry organisations, supporting ESG data management and impact reporting, and broader research and reporting on ESG issues.
The Private Credit Sustainability Research team forms a dedicated resource within Private Capital at MIM.
The Opportunity
The Associate role will report to the Head of Private Credit Sustainability Research and will contribute to the team’s broader work, with a specific focus on researching issuers and supporting quarterly ESG reporting for Investment Grade Private Credit portfolios.
How You’ll Help Us Build a Confident Future (Key Responsibilities)
- Contribute to the development and deployment of new and existing sustainable investment strategies for Corporate Private Placement and Infrastructure Debt mandates
- Develop sector expertise and conduct research and analysis of issuers and investment opportunities for Investment Grade Private Credit portfolios
- Support the production of quarterly sustainability reports and annual impact reports
- Conduct quantitative GHG emissions analysis of issuers and portfolios
- Support the delivery of ad hoc client requests
- Take on responsibility for project management roles within the team’s broader workflow
- Represent the team’s work with internal and external stakeholders
What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications)
- Strong academic background from a leading university, preferably in a sustainability-related field (e.g. Environmental Studies, Sustainable Finance, etc.)
- Substantive 3-5 years of experience in sustainability-focused research, sustainable finance or other relevant field
- Demonstrated interest in sustainability, evidenced through professional experience, academic focus or other relevant projects/initiatives
- Strong understanding of sustainable finance, including ongoing and emerging themes and regulatory frameworks
- Understanding of GHG emissions measurement and reporting frameworks, and ability to conduct analysis of large datasets
- High level of critical and logical thinking, and strong written and spoken communication skills
- Candidate must have a strong work ethic, personal and professional integrity, and be able to adapt to new challenges in a dynamic environment while handling multiple projects
- Candidate must be able to work independently and in a team environment, remaining detail-oriented and client-focused
- Able to work a hybrid working arrangement, which will see you in the office 3-4 days a week
