Associate Research Manager, Third-Party Due DiligenceThe Associate Research Manager is responsible for the quality of VANTAGE third-party due diligence work. S/he will oversee and guide Researchers to ensure they produce clear, analytical and well-written reports which help clients protect their integrity and reputation. The role also supports the Research Manager in training researchers and managing projects, leveraging internal and external resources to complete VANTAGE projects in a timely and effective manner.The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of open-source intelligence and public record research, experience in writing and reviewing due diligence reports, people management skills, and excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills.People ManagementManage a team of researchers and senior researchersDefine, for each team member, objectives and responsibilities in line with practice goalsConduct performance reviewsEnsure well-being and professional development of staffSupport the Research Manager in recruiting new researchersProject Management of Third-Party Due DiligenceEnsure VANTAGE work is properly scoped, allocated to researchers, tracked and delivered on time and within budgetCommunicate directly with clients to clarify scope, address questions, and suggest potential additional avenues of researchReview and approve (content and editorial) VANTAGE work, ensuring high quality and alignment with client specificationsLiaise with vendors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality output that adheres to global delivery standardsEngage with colleagues in the Business Intelligence team when input and collaboration are neededRegional Research InitiativesAssist Research Manager in training new researchers in the VANTAGE methodology and onboarding processProvide continual training and updates to the VANTAGE methodology and approachMonitor quality of work and provide feedback to researchers; motivate and guide researchers to stay focused on operational and other aspects of the workInteract regularly with other Team Leads and Associate Research Managers to provide support and feedback on VANTAGE workParticipate in discussions with other Team Leads and Associate Research Managers to provide insight on potential service/product improvementsRequirementsEssentialEducation to degree level (minimum of a bachelor’s or equivalent experience)Full fluency in English written and spokenExperience in writing, researching and reviewing/editing due diligence reports; demonstrated excellence in research, writing and editing in EnglishExperience in managing projects, especially with distributed teamsAt least 1–2 years’ experience in line managementStrong knowledge of OSINT research tools, databases, networks, online registers and archivesExperience influencing people across an organization without direct reporting linesProven ability to meet project deadlinesPreferredKnowledge of software-based case management solutionsExperience in a compliance team in a financial institution or corporate settingKnowledge of other languages and regional socio-political context is an advantageQualifications specific to financial crime or compliance are advantageousBenefitsCompetitive compensation and benefits package, with details provided in the full job offerDiscretionary global bonus scheme based on company and individual performanceHybrid working arrangements where possible, with emphasis on in-person time for collaborationDirect responsibility, career development and opportunity to work on engaging projects in a diverse, global environmentCommitment to diversity, inclusion and equity, with access to employee resource groupsEqual opportunity statement: Control Risks is committed to a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
