Overview

Nature Reviews Bioengineering – launching in January 2023 – is recruiting an Associate or Senior Editor with a background in bioelectronics and/or robotics. This position is an exciting opportunity to join the launching editorial team of Nature Reviews Bioengineering and to aid in the shaping of the journal. Nature Reviews Bioengineering will publish Reviews and Perspectives, covering a wide range of topics, including biomaterials, bioelectronics, robotics, bio(nano)technology, synthetic biology, biomedical engineering, medical devices, delivery systems and regenerative medicine. Nature Reviews Bioengineering will also publish Comments and other front-half articles, as well as editorial content, creating a discussion forum for the bioengineering community. We are particularly interested in applicants with a background in biosensing, bionics, robotics and/or technology transfer, but we would welcome applications from outstanding candidates in any area of bioengineering.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Chief Editor to commission articles, edit manuscripts, organise peer review, write for the journal, and develop the journal’s website and social media presence.
• Liaise with the research community through meetings, laboratory visits and international conferences; travel when appropriate and required.

Qualifications

• PhD in a bioengineering-related discipline; ideally relevant post-doctoral or industry experience; demonstrable ability to edit text for sense, clarity, factual correctness and language; proactive approach and excellent organizational skills.
• Editorial experience is beneficial but not required.
