Overview

TPF Recruitment, the leading provider of accountancy practice professionals, is currently supporting one of their clients located in London with the recruitment of an Audit Supervisor. This role involves planning, supervising, and carrying out full end-to-end audits. You will be responsible for achieving agreed budgets and meeting deadlines, setting objectives for more junior staff, supervising on-site, reviewing their work, and coaching on the job where necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Audit Management: Lead comprehensive end-to-end audits for large companies, from planning to execution and completion, ensuring the delivery of a complete audit file for managerial review.
  • Team Supervision: Oversee audit teams on-site, review the work of junior staff, and provide on-the-job coaching and technical guidance in accounting and auditing.
  • Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out under primary accounting frameworks, including UK GAAP, FRS 101, FRS 102, and IFRS.
  • Complex Audits: Identify and manage complex audit areas with the support of senior managers and directors.
  • Recommendations: Draft recommendations for management to improve internal controls following audit fieldwork.
  • Client Interaction: Maintain close liaison with clients and stakeholders, including direct contact at partner and director levels.
  • Team Development: Motivate and encourage the audit team, assist with their career development, and contribute to internal training courses.
  • Practice Promotion: Actively promote the firm's interests with clients, prospective clients, and third parties.
  • Special Projects: Assist with special projects such as company valuations, HMRC investigations, and proposal pitches.

Practice Development

  • Client Engagement: Attend client gatherings and seminars as needed.
  • Business Development: Identify and pursue business development opportunities with clients, in collaboration with partners and directors.
  • Internal Networking: Build strong relationships within your team and the wider firm, including specialist services.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: ACA/ACCA or internationally recognized chartered accounting qualification.
  • Experience: Proven experience leading audit teams, including group audits, and conducting substantive and controls-based audit testing.
  • Technical Competence: Strong understanding of UK GAAP and auditing standards, with practical IFRS experience being desirable but not essential.
  • Personal Attributes: High level of personal motivation and initiative, excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a personable and confident demeanor.
  • Client and Team Relations: Ability to build rapport with clients and motivate team members, while effectively managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
