AWS Data Architect

Location: Glasgow (3-days p/week in the office)
Pay: INSIDE IR35, up to £520
We are looking for an experienced AWS Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure data solutions within the AWS ecosystem. This role involves translating complex business requirements into effective cloud-based architectures and contributing to data strategy initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design scalable AWS data architectures aligned with business goals.
- Develop data models, pipelines, and storage using services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda.
- Define and enforce data policies, security controls, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with business analysts and technical teams to ensure solution alignment.
- Provide subject matter expertise on AWS technologies and mentor junior team members.
- Translate organisational needs into actionable data strategy roadmaps.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years in software development and architecture.
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with AWS-based solutions.
- Strong knowledge of AWS services including SQS, Lambda, S3, CloudTrail, Aurora PostgreSQL, API Gateway, IAM, and Athena.
- Experience with microservices, serverless architectures, and containerisation.
- Proficiency in Python and/or Node.js is a strong advantage.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Git.
- Solid understanding of cloud security and access management.
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional (preferred).
Desirable
- Deep expertise in data modelling and integration.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to conduct design workshops.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into robust AWS architectures.
