We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Associate Principal Medical Writer (APMW) to join our vibrant team in the healthcare communications sector. In this role, you will be responsible for producing or reviewing high-quality content that is focused, strategic, and efficient, consistently meeting or exceeding the client’s communication objectives, in alignment with your client’s brand strategy. You will have the opportunity to confidently provide strategic direction on assigned accounts and to become the go-to contact for in-depth knowledge of select therapy areas. APMWs also play an integral role in the training and development of junior team members within a supportive and professional environment. Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Accountability: Demonstrate a strong ability to independently make decisions and propose solutions, advising team members and seeking consultation and input from the senior team, the client, and other resources on more complex issues
- Strategic insight: Provide scientific leadership for assigned accounts by implementing strategic direction, demonstrating scientific and commercial expertise, and applying strategic thinking to project delivery and client consultation
- Senior review: Oversee the work of and provide clear direction to junior colleagues, delegating responsibilities and tasks where appropriate. Review work and provide constructive feedback. Consistently deliver client-ready deliverables across a wide range of projects with senior review only required for strategic alignment
- Client interaction: Serve as the primary contact for clients on editorial/scientific aspects of your accounts. Lead support teams at client events (on-site and virtual), establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships within and across departments
- Project management: Have in-depth knowledge of project delivery and client offerings. Streamline processes, manage multiple projects efficiently, and ensure quality and timeline adherence. Understand budgets and scopes of work. Collaborate on revenue forecasting and project resourcing with client services
- People management: Leverage experience to develop junior team members through direct or indirect line management. Identify and prioritise appropriate training opportunities (internal and external) and share learnings with the team and identify/recommend relevant training for junior team members
- Relationship building: Build and maintain effective relationships with team members, client partners, external suppliers and key opinion leaders
- Industry knowledge: Stay informed on industry standards, compliance and innovations. Identify and communicate important therapy area updates to the team, company and clients where appropriate
- Continuous learning: Regularly look for ways to learn and grow professionally by maximising exposure to new opportunities and making the most of training

Candidate must have:
- Relevant writing experience in a medical communications/pharmaceutical role
- A passion for communications and science
- Excellent attention to detail and quality control
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Strong scientific background, educated to a minimum degree level in life sciences (MSc/PhD advantageous)
- An understanding of pharmaceutical industry standards and compliance
