Backend Developer - PHP, Drupal, Acquia Site Studio

My client, a large consultancy, is in need of a Backend Developer for a 6 month contract inside IR35 based in Warwick offering 2 days per week remote but requiring 3 days per week on-site.

Responsibilities

  • Develop backend PHP code with strong object-oriented programming, with deep expertise in Drupal.
  • Extensive experience in Drupal custom module development, including work with Services, Plugins, Controllers, and Drupal core and contributed APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with Acquia products, particularly Site Studio, and integrating third-party applications and data to ensure seamless communication across systems.
  • Server-side development and maintenance, including command-line proficiency (Linux), Drush, Composer, Git, and MySQL.
  • Collaborate in an agile product team; work independently and as part of a cross-functional team to deliver solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Backend Developer with a strong understanding of server-side programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, Node.js, Ruby).
  • Experience with database management systems (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and data modelling.
  • Familiarity with RESTful APIs and web services, as well as microservices architecture.
  • Strong understanding of version control systems (Git) and collaborative development practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus; experience with Docker and supporting containerized development and deployment workflows.
  • Experience working in an Agile product team, desirably with SCRUM framework, including experience writing and refining JIRA tickets.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal; ability to work with development teams, web producers, product teams, design, content, and stakeholder groups.
