Responsibilities

Manage a specialist community caseload, using current assessment techniques (incl. neurothesiometers, monofilaments, Doppler, etc.) and evidence-based treatment of biomechanical pathologies, at-risk patients (including wound care) and nail surgery.

Work in partnership with patients and other service users, communicating effectively to maximise understanding of information about their foot health and to empathetically convey potentially distressing information.

Supervise work with and for Foot Care Assistants and assist with their training and development.

Identify local podiatry needs, evaluate priorities and deliver care accordingly, managing capacity and demand within contractual agreements.

Collaborate with other health care professionals to secure high standards of care for all patients, including referral onward, antibiotic cover, specialist footwear prescriptions, and recommending further tests/investigations.

Requirements

Experience Essential: Specialist wound care knowledge in treating and managing high-risk and ulcerated feet.

Qualifications Essential: BSc Podiatry (or equivalent e.g. Diploma in Podiatric Medicine or overseas qualification with equivalent BSc). HPC registration and evidence of continuing professional development.
