Overview

Band 7 Senior Mental Health Practitioner role at Defence Primary Healthcare (DPHC). Part-time, 32 hours per week, based at Hightown Barracks, Wrexham. The post involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver an occupational mental health service for Service personnel and entitled personnel within the Department of Community Mental Health (DCMH) and network as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a timely and high-quality mental health service to all patients referred to the DCMH for assessment and treatment of mental health presentations.
  • Deliver a wide variety of clinical work within your qualifications, stretching your capabilities.
  • Act as a clinical resource, liaising with Medical Officers/General Practitioners (MO/GP) and advising on mental health matters, administrative management of personnel with mental health difficulties, and mental health promotion.
  • Work flexibly within 32 hours per week, with core service hours of 8am-5pm; the team operates across a network requiring flexibility in where and how care is delivered.
  • Provide training in assessment and formulation and other CBT-based practices to the team.
  • Deputise for the team manager and assume delegated professional management of the team as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner in a stepped care service and registered with a professional body (e.g., HCPC) and accredited to a governing body (e.g., BABCP).
  • Experience of working in adult community mental health.
  • Interest in working with the military.
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with post-graduate training and accreditation in NICE-recognised modalities for common mental disorders (e.g., CBT).
  • UK professional registration and current membership numbers; you must provide membership details prior to submission.

Essential Registrations & Memberships

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.
  • Accreditation as a psychological therapist with a relevant body such as BABCP.

  • Pay scheme: Agenda for Change, Band 7, Salary £46,148 to £52,809 pro-rata (pay award pending).
  • Contract: Permanent; Working pattern: Part-time (32 hours per week).

Additional Information

Some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is non-contractual; office-based staff are expected to spend a minimum of 60% of time in the office, subject to capacity and workplace adjustments.
