Band 8a (or 7/8a) Clinical/Counselling Psychologist - Living Well

Would you like to work alongside other enthusiastic and supportive psychological therapists in adult mental health? Would you like to be at the forefront of innovative service development? Are you good at building relationships, working with teams and promoting new ways of doing things? We are looking for a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist, Band 7 or 8a, depending on experience, with progression by appraisal.

Across Derbyshire, our newly developed Living Well service aims to offer short-term multi-agency / multi-disciplinary services to people who have complex mental health needs, and who would have previously fallen between primary and secondary care mental health services. Living Well teams have formed across the county of Derbyshire and Derby City, and NHS, Social Care and Voluntary Sector organisations work together within each team to provide person centred care and a joined up way of providing services. Joining a county wide small team of psychologists, the roles will support service developments, offer training, consultation, support and supervision to the Living Well teams to promote psychologically informed interventions and trauma informed care.

You will be committed to co-production and multidisciplinary team working and have excellent relationship skills, whilst capable to manage varied work demands.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of a small psychology team which will develop, oversee and deliver short term psychologically informed offers in the Living Well teams. You will provide direct clinical work, predominantly group work, jointly with colleagues. You will promotepsychological ideas by offering advice and consultation in addition to supervision and training to colleagues, multi-disciplinary practitioners, the wider organisation and contribute to service development. You will promote trauma informed care, and support the development and supervision of trauma stabilisation work in Living Well, as well as other psychologically informed interventions. You will offer research skills and service evaluation/development. There may be a small amount of provision of individual therapy within a CMHT context as part of the overall role, but group work, consultation, supervision and service development will form more of the majority of the role.

We support and develop our staff to work with complexity, for example, by access to training resources to support your work. We offer specialist clinical supervision 1:1 or in facilitated groups e.g. CFT, complex trauma and dissociation supervision.

Working in our friendly Directorate of Psychology and Psychological Therapies, you will be well supported in CPD opportunities. Our team report feeling valued and supported working in a service focused on staff well-being and development, and service transformation.
