Overview

Band A Dental Officer in Paediatric Dentistry – part time, 0.6 WTE (22.5 hours per week). Based in Birmingham, delivering high quality community-based dentistry to anxious children and those with special needs across multiple sites in Birmingham, Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley, including mobile dental services at selected schools. Dentists may be required to drive mobile units; training will be provided as required. The post may require provision of inhalation sedation and completion of the relevant qualification if not already held, with support provided to achieve this.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality dental treatment for children with a wide range of treatment needs, including those with special needs who may not access care in the General Dental Service.
  • Carry out the full range of clinical procedures, including inhalation sedation.
  • Move between community dental clinics and work in a mobile dental unit as required.
  • Work under Consultant-led specialist services to deliver community-based care.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Dentist registered with the appropriate regulatory body.
  • Experience in paediatric dentistry or willingness to develop expertise in this area.
  • Inhalation sedation: either already held or a commitment to complete the qualification with supported training.
  • Willingness to drive mobile dental units as part of service delivery (training provided).
  • Flexible to move between multiple sites and mobile units as required.
