Benefits and Contributions Adviser
The Income Services Team has an exciting vacancy for a Benefits and Contributions Adviser. If you are looking for a challenge, we are an exceptionally busy team providing welfare benefits advice and claims support, as well as having responsibility for determining customer contributions for social care through our financial assessment process.
Responsibilities
- Providing information and advice to customers, many of whom are vulnerable, through several channels including home visits, and gathering information to undertake financial assessments in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and City of York Council policy.
- Providing benefits advice talks in community settings and delivering benefits advice via our helpline in the office to residents of York (Hybrid role).
- Supporting front line adult and children’s social care teams, income collection and the management of client’s affairs.
- This role is suitable as a job share opportunity.
Qualifications
- Capable of lone working and managing a daily diary.
- Experience or knowledge of welfare benefits, social care financial assessments or both (full training provided).
Benefits and Working Arrangements
Hybrid working arrangements are available. Each role at City of York Council is different and your working arrangements will be determined based on the requirements of the role and in collaboration with you.
The postholder will have access to secure government sites or email. In order to use these systems, the Cabinet Office requires the HR Team to carry out Baseline Personnel Standard Security (BPSS) checks.
