Are you passionate about early childhood development and ready to make a meaningful impact for local families? We’re building something exciting — and we want you to be part of it. North Northamptonshire is expanding its Family Hubs network in line with the national Best Start for Life programme, and we’re looking for an enthusiastic, child-centred BSIL Early Years Practitioner to join the team.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver play-based learning sessions in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
  • Support parents to understand and nurture their child’s development through practical, everyday strategies.
  • Deliver evidence-based parenting programmes, including for families with SEND.
  • Promote school readiness by building confidence in the home learning environment.
  • Work closely with colleagues across health, early years, and social care as a Family Help Champion.
  • Contribute to assessments and help shape intervention plans that really make a difference.

About You / Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or similar.
  • Experience working directly with young children and their families.
  • Strong knowledge of child development, parenting support, and early intervention approaches.
  • The ability to work flexibly and travel across North Northamptonshire as required.
  • Confidence in responding to safeguarding concerns appropriately and in line with procedures.
  • If you’re also trained in Signalong, First Aid, or Food Hygiene, that’s a bonus — but not essential.

Benefits and Culture

You’ll be joining a passionate, ambitious team committed to improving life outcomes for children from birth upwards. We value creativity, teamwork, and a “can-do” attitude, and we’ll support you with regular supervision, training, and opportunities to shape the future of our local Family Hubs.

Some evening and weekend work may be required, but we offer flexibility, variety, and the opportunity to be part of something that matters.

Why join us? You’ll receive a wide range of benefits and work in a vibrant environment within North Northamptonshire Council, including training and development opportunities, generous leave, and flexible working arrangements where practicable.

Benefits

  • a competitive salary
  • a pension scheme with a significant employer contribution, life cover and ill-health protection
  • opportunities to develop skills and knowledge within a large unitary council
  • generous leave entitlement (28 days rising to 33 days) plus bank holidays and an option to buy up to 10 extra days
  • hybrid and flexible working arrangements where practicable
