Competitive Salary to be discussed depending on experience.
As a result of continued company growth, we are looking for an experienced BMS engineer to join our team here at Vital.
We deliver cost effective, low carbon energy solutions for public and private sector clients across the Nort West. As part of the team, you will help design, deliver and verify bespoke Building Management System strategies that improve building performance. You will also support the integration of BMS within wider low carbon infrastructure projects to help reduce energy use across HVAC, lighting and mechanical systems.
You will work on projects that include optimising existing BMS control strategies, upgrading outdated control systems and network infrastructure, and integrating low carbon technologies. These include solar PV, heat pumps and hydronic system optimisation to improve energy efficiency and overall building performance.
If you are an experienced BMS engineer with a passion and interest in supporting the drive to Low Carbon Strategies, this is the ideal role for you!
The Role:
As a BMS optimisation project engineer, you will work closely with the team on all aspects of our BMS energy savings initiatives with a key focus on project implementation.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Reading and interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics to plan intelligent system layouts
- Carrying out detailed surveys of BMS and controlled HVAC equipment to identify energy conservation opportunities
- Assessing the baseline performance of BMS control strategies through interrogation of strategy drawings, O&M documentation and observed operating conditions
- Identifying and collecting existing BMS logs or setting up new logging to support modelling of potential BMS and HVAC energy savings initiatives
- Installing and commissioning BMS control panels and associated field devices with precision
- Integrating HVAC components such as fire dampers, kitchen extract systems and fan units into the BMS network
- Producing accurate system diagrams and hand-drawn schematics for bespoke automation setups
- Designing and costing BMS energy saving initiatives for EPC tenders, high level assessments and investment grade proposals in collaboration with our BMS sub-contractor supply chain
- Creating, reviewing and obtaining client approval of BMS design deliverables such as control philosophies, risk assessments, method statements and impact assessments
- Working closely with project delivery teams and sub-contractors to ensure BMS initiatives are delivered to agreed specifications, on time and within budget
- Supporting the commissioning, witness testing and handover of delivered BMS energy saving projects
- Conducting performance tests to verify system functionality, optimise energy efficiency and support measurement and verification of guaranteed savings
- Supporting site preparation tasks, including fixing containment and mounting hardware
- Applying your technical expertise to troubleshoot on-site faults, connectivity issues and control strategy anomalies
- Collaborating with colleagues and clients to meet project goals, deadlines and quality standards
