We have a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor in the East Midlands area.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage various projects to restore properties damaged by insured perils, with values ranging from £50k to £5m.
  • Depending on the project\'s size and complexity, you may work alone or lead a small team with our QSs, CAD technicians, and engineers.
  • Technical reporting, defect diagnosis, preparing Schedules of Works, contract administration, and project management.
  • Empathise with clients who have suffered loss or bereavement and deliver professional reports within tight deadlines.
  • Manage workloads and make reasoned decisions under pressure.

What you will need

  • A full UK Driving Licence: It is essential you can travel by car
  • Excellent communication skills: You\'ll speak with and write to policyholders, insurers, contractors, and more. You\'ll explain complex details clearly, and negotiate fair settlements for all.
  • Extensive knowledge of building construction and relevant legislation
  • Chartered status (or working towards this qualification). MRICS or MCIOB preferred, and as a minimum actively working towards Chartered status

Helpful but not vital

  • Use of Apple software such as iPads, or other tablets

Development and training

  • We will provide all the Sedgwick specific training you need to thrive in this role
