LOCATION: London – Hybrid 3 days per week. Occasional trips to Salford may be required to meet with team members based there
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £30,000 - £40,000 pro rata depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Interviews are likely to be held on Thursday 9th October.

Job Purpose
Are you passionate about supporting teams to get things done and experienced in business support? As a Business Coordinator you play a vital role in enabling Sounds teams to deliver content and projects to help grow our digital audio listening. You will book new freelancers, raise payments, help new starters and organise team initiatives. It’s a great fit for someone with strong experience in a range of business activities who enjoys responding to different ad hoc requests to enable the smooth running of the department.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact
- Book freelancers using Smartbook (the BBC’s freelance booking system), including working out the correct contract type to use
- Raise payments including purchase orders via Ariba system and chase up invoices
- Maintain accurate information for the team, including logging costs on Excel budget tracker
- Lead coordination of our starters and leavers process to ensure people start in Sounds smoothly
- Office support in London including logging any issues with equipment/furniture; receiving or sending equipment out to staff via Post room
- Support with ad hoc staff events and team initiatives
- Respond to ad hoc business support queries, proactively tracking down the solution
Essential Criteria
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong recent experience of booking freelancers using Smartbook (or similar freelance booking system); understanding of the different freelance contract types
- Strong recent experience of raising purchase orders using Ariba system (or similar purchase order system)
- Organised, with ability to prioritise own workload effectively
- Proactive – able to spot issues, respond quickly when needed and work through to resolve
- Track record showing high attention to detail and accuracy, with experience working with budgets using Excel
- Strong interpersonal skills – able to build good working relationships
- Good communication skills both orally and in writing
Desired But Not Required
- Interest in audio
- Able to think creatively in response to changing needs
- Experience of handling sensitive data
- Ability to use own initiative with minimal supervision
- Experience of office software packages
