Medisoft is looking for a driven and enthusiastic Business Development Manager to join our team on a hybrid basis, working between home and our offices in Leeds or on a fully remote basis. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary depending upon experience.
Who are we?
Medisoft is the UK’s foremost supplier of electronic records for ophthalmology and our vision is to transform the practice of ophthalmology by means of advanced technology.
Our systems support every aspect of ophthalmic assessment and treatment. They provide paperless working to allow instant access to patient information from any location, allowing clinicians to deliver better, safer care and rapid audits of clinical outcomes.
Our main product, Medisoft Ophthalmology, is used routinely at over 150 hospitals worldwide to help clinical teams assess vision defects and save sight.
Our innovative Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, mediSIGHT, is used by around 70 organisations. mediSIGHT will replace Medisoft Ophthalmology as Medisoft’s flagship product, consolidating over 20 years of product development and user feedback. mediSIGHT is localised for a number of European markets and is live in three languages currently; English, French, and German.
About the Business Development Manager role:
We are looking for an experienced professional with a research background or substantial contact with clinical research and statistical methods who has an appreciation of how data can help form collaborations that will result in better patient outcomes.
The successful candidate is likely to be aware of Medisoft and the impact we are already making in this field. Someone having worked in Medical Affairs or Medical Science Liaison for a major ophthalmic pharmaceutical company would be well suited to this role. The position might also be of interest to a contract researcher who has been involved in designing Real World Evidence (RWE) / Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) projects in the field of ophthalmology.
You are an effective communicator, highly organised and interested in software, healthcare, data and perhaps ophthalmology in particular.
Key aspects of the role:
- Develop opportunities for collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, research groups and organisations with an interest in the analysis of real-world data in the field of ophthalmology.
- Identifying new business opportunities, connecting with new markets, new clients, new partnerships or new products and services.
- Generate strategies to effectively create new business opportunities.
- Building relationships with new clients, understanding their needs, and developing tenders/proposals to address these needs.
- Maintain and grow strong relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Present our products and services to new and current clients.
- Attend conferences and events to build relationships with industry partners and to stay up to date with new trends.
- Produce sales forecasts and enthusiastically work towards reaching them.
- Acquire a strong knowledge of the company's products, the competition in the industry and positioning.
- Translate external client needs into internal project briefs and coordinate with product developers and data engineering teams to deliver successful solutions.
- Ability to work effectively with biostatisticians, data analysts, and clinical scientists to translate business goals into analytic outputs.
- Support industry clients in evaluating clinical trial feasibility using EMR-derived population insights and contribute to post-approval study planning, including site identification and data-driven subject recruitment strategies.
- Work cross-functionally with customer evidence generation, medical affairs and regulatory teams to align project goals with data capture standards, clinical endpoints, and regulatory expectations.
Your profile:
- A background in in Medical Affairs or Medical Science Liaison for a major ophthalmic, pharmaceutical organisation or similar.
- Involved in planning Real World Evidence (RWE)/Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) projects from design through to completion.
- Capable and willing to travel within the UK and abroad.
- Widespread network of contacts across pertinent sectors of the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry.
- Basic knowledge of ophthalmic conditions and treatments, and the delivery of ophthalmic care.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, comfortable with preparing detailed proposals to short deadlines.
- Leading co-operation with Contract Research Organisations such as Ora, IQVIA.
- Operational knowledge of regulatory and approval processes, including NIHR/Health Technology Assessment, NICE, EMA, FDA.
- Solid understanding of the use of Electronic Medical Records in a clinical environment.
- Knowledge of UK National Health Service processes and governance.
- Comprehension of the legal and regulatory framework affecting data studies.
